Vienna / Wien
"Wien, wien nur du allein..."
It is no understatement to say that in the ninteenth century, Vienna was as much as a Cultural centre for music and art as New York was in the twentieth.
The capital of the multi-ethnic Habsburg Empire, Vienna enjoyed its heyday during the "long ninteenth century" (1789-1918), bringing upon the world the works of such important composers, artists and scientists such as Haydn, Beethoven, Schönberg, Mahler, Klimt, Schiele, Freud, Schrödinger, or Lorenz.
Although today reduced to the capital of comparably small Austria, Vienna's history lives on in its architecture, making an exploration of the city a joy for every photographer.
