上賀茂神社

Kamigamo Shrine is the “upper” shrine of the two Kamo shrines, along with Shimogamo Shrine. It is nestled along the northern mountains where the River Kamo flows into the city. Along with its sister shrine, Kamigamo Shrine is famous for the Aoi Festival in May, and some riding events can be enjoyed on the shrine’s long approach.
