Katsura Imperial Villa
桂離宮
Along with Shūgakuin, Katsura is one of two Imperial villas located in Kyōto City. After registering for a (free) guided tour, the vast wet-landscape strolling garden can be visited free of charge, visiting several small pavilions and tea houses along the way, passing by even an artificially created mountain.
The Katsura villa is famous for the many Rhododendron on its grounds, and as such, a visit in early summer is highly recommended.
Admission: joining a (free) guided tour, prior registration and same-day reception available
